Depends on the length of the non compete, if a few months- your screwed, if long term, won't hold up in court.
If this is your only trade, they can't stop you from making a living, most of these are to keep you from taking all the good help with you, if there is such a thing as good help any more.
Also depends on who you go to work for, if in direct competition, you could have a problem, just don't take inside company info with you.
Good Luck- just sign it and go to work, unless you take a major project from them, you will never hear from them.
