Re: Nothing To Consider!

"A UNION WILL NOT fix this bullsh*t. We as installers must report those who aren't installers, yet hacks. A lot of times, managers do not realize who the hacks are because they never get out into the field. The IBEW has a lot of pull for electricians, but we aren't. We are communications technicians. "

Unions will not fix all the BS. They shouldnt be expected to. Workers form unions to gain a voice in the workplace. Not to take control of a company. Employee unions only serve as a tool to bargain things in regards to employee - company relations. The company always has the right to run the company as they please. Its called "managment rights". Its up to the company to move the company in the right direction. The company always has the right to make the decisions they deem neccesary for the company to prosper.

Unions being the answer to all the problems is a myth. Unfortunately, its a myth thats brought about because of the FACT that many people seem to feel that any negative thing that happens to a company that employs union workers, is the fault of the union. The company engineers a bad vehicle, blame the union. The company goes BKd because of mis-management of billions of dollars of revenue, blame the union. Anytime things go bad, blame the union. But when companies prosper, it becuase of managment of the company. As stupid as this sounds, this is how many people think, and IMO is where the myth of "unions fix everything is started". I guess the rationale is, since they are accused of breaking everything, they must can fix everything. Both are false. But both are something some people would love for workers to believe, and it aint the unions.

IMO techs should not be in a position where they have to be techs and managers (without being compensated for the extra duties). Documenting the bad habits of a bad worker is the job of a manager, isnt it? Why are the managers getting paid if the techs are doing the work for them. Why is the tech being put in a position where he must collect the info on the bad tech. You would think it would be better for the company if their techs spent all their time installing and not doing the job the managers are paid to do. After the tech goes beyond the call the duty and collect this info on the bad tech, nothing is done (remember theres no union). All of these are examples of mismanagment that cost the company money.
