If you go to www.directv.com there is a link where you can see the owner's manual for just about every receiver that they have. That way, you can view the PDF? for your receiver and see how to access the signal strength screen from the instructions contained within it.
On the other hand, if you post the make and model of your receiver here, someone might know the key presses to get you to the screen.
If you have DiSH, the key sequence is MENU, 6, 1, 1 for just about every receiver except, I believe, the 1000 series (ancient)and maybe a few others.
