Its always possible to get a searching fo sat. It depends on how bad the storm is. Best way to test is check the signal on a clear day. DTV says you should be at least at 70% on a clear day, but even a half decent tech wont settle for anything less than an 85% signal on a clear day on transponders 1 & 2. You should actualy be peaked out in the 90's or if youre in the deep south 100%, but even a 100%signal can be lost during a very bad storm. Good Luck

PS All of this is said assuming you have no Line of Sight issues that occur during storms ( ie...high winds blowing tree branches in front of dish during storm), and that your dish is mounted on a stable surface.
