Not to be too picky but the law states thou shalt not MURDER.
Thou shalt not KILL is often substituted.
I actually agree with you but that particular phrase for whatever reason has always bugged me along with "The truth shall SET you free." It is really "......MAKE you free."
Another one I hate....."Money is the root of all evil."
The real quote...."The LOVE of money is the root of all evil."
Or how about "Judge Not your brother"?
The FULL line is "Judge not LEST YE be judged by the same measure."
