Re: how is it going

I can only agree with about 3 things you said , not that it matters to you . I agree about installing to the best of your ability , know your product , and researching who you are/intend to work for , and that's it .
The union word is becoming an issue again because of the MSO's and Primes. The way they have treated thier subs/( employees ) , skimmed all the profits , and have chose to ignore all the problems caused by allowing improperly trained personnell to perform sub-standard work for years . They have also chose to limit thier financial exposure by placing any/all the monetary burden any individual in this line of work will tolerate to be thankful to have a job . The backs are against the wall . Most have no place to turn to , and inability to run away .
The MSO"s and Primes will hardly be safe from unions if this thing takes off this time , and it appears to be gaining momentum . If they ( the MSO's ) take it " In- House " , that may only temporarily protect them from a union , but , if they continue to mistreat thier employees , it will only be a matter of time before thier forced loyalty employees wise up . The only way the MSO' and Primes can truly protect themselves from the workforce unionizing is to take on the responsibility of cleaning up the Industry and restoring professionalism .
MSO's are not going to be successful by " taking it IN-House " They may think it is a genius solution , but , that only appears to give them the illusion of success in over-coming what they believe is a simple problem . In many markets where this has occurred , they are ill-equipped to handle thier customer base on thier own . Customer complaints increase , customer satisfaction decreases , customers change to other providers , and local and state utility commissions are becoming more consumer minded due to the mounting level of complaints , except in the instances when/where the MSO has board members in thier back pocket . The real reason they ( MSO's ) might want to go IN-House , is so they can CONTROL the degree of professionalism within thier ranks . They will need to be very carefull what they put in that Company Policy , it may come back to haunt them someday .
And now , as to the mention of the Automobile Industry and it's problems , and blaming it on the unions , well , that is just so far out in left field , it's not even in the same town , or league , or game of play , for that matter . You cannot compare apples to oranges . Yes , we are talking union for our Industry , but , the simularity stops there .We are Service-oriented, not factory workers . And as far as the Automobile Industry ; are you tryiing to say that the automobile manufacturers were perfect and made no mistakes until the unions came along . And the union is to blame for all it's woes . I am sure anyone can think of hundreds , if not thousands of mistakes the Automobile Industry has made , just in thier life time .
Now , if you really want nothing to do with a union , the best thing to do would be to swim ( yes , swim ) to the nearest deserted island . ps. you would have to make your own clothes , cause , yes ,you guessed it , Textile Workers . And let's see know ... Nurses , Firemen , Policemen , Pilots , Electricians , Steam-fitters , Teachers , Equioment Operators , etc. etc. ( the list goes on for quite along time . Really , I don't believe there are any people in our civilized nation whose life has not been affected/improved by a union member in some way . We owe them a debt of gratitude , not an insult .
If you must insist that someone quit thier line of work , can they not ask you if you might change your way of thinking ?(shocked)(confused)
