Confirm what the TX level is at the node. It should be no higher than the inject level (return input to node level)to get the expected return path receiver card output at the headend/hub. If the headend padding is incorrect that could be your problem. I am assuming that plant is swept correct. You may want to measure actual input to uBr.

Another problem is high tap values off amps/le and return conditioning padding in the taps (if you use that in your system).

CMTS set up for higher than a 0dB input. When I say setup I mean programmed to say to all modems I need +5 rather than a 0dB. Usually this problem would be caught when you first launched HSD.

Another thing I have seen is high power levels at a node and just unplugging a wire in the combining path and plug it back in corrects it. If that happens look for bad f-conn .


The transmitters should be set up using the power per hertz formula.

These are things I have found over the years as problems.
