Your right $50K a year is not a good wage, it beats doing this work for $10 an hour (which is what DTV and the HSP would love to pay the techs) but it is still not that good. The teachers are always bitchin about not getting paid enough and many people agree that they are paid too little. Most of them make $45-$65K per year and only have to work 9-10 months out of the year, they don't have to work out in the weather, they don't have to crawl under nasty houses and deal with all matters of poisionous critters. They don't have to climb around in cramped attics in the heat waves of summer, possibly crashing through the ceiling with every step. I know taking care of and trying to teach 25-30 screaming brats is not an easy job, but it beats the grunt work an installer has to do on any given day and if their pay is considered low then our is as well.
