Re: Union

I gave it all sorts of chances. My comments are based on those many years of membership; good and bad. The fact that I had to join was not an issue with me for the first several years. In fact I was fairly active in the union until things started to erode.
Unions have their good points as well as bad ones. Pay and benefits improved, working conditions also. Back then we were a relatively small local group of employees dealing with the company that employed us. To organize contractors today would be a huge undertaking. You would have to sign contracts with all the different companies and prime contractors. Most probably will not even talk to you when the "U" word is introduced.
