English is the glue that holds America together. I learned to speak English; so did my Mom.
You mention Canada; Quebec is ALWAYS wanting to break away from Canada.....they consider themselves French because that is their common tongue.
Once we stop speaking the same language, America will be finished as we know it and will fracture.
