The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) no longer exists. Shortly after the creation of the United States Department of Homeland Security (USDoHS) the INS was reformed and renamed United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). It might have a new name, but it's still got the same nimrods running the outfit.
The immigration laws need to be reformed so they can be enforcable. As it stands it takes 2-7 years to get legalized to be in this country. For my wife, a citizen of Colombia, it took over 3 years (a couple of months shy of 4 years actually) from the time we got married and filed her papers until she got her Greencard. Now we are having to go through the process again for my wife's youngest daughter. There is no reason why it should take that long.
