Because the return freq's are so close together they attenuate almost the same. Assuming your return freq's are between 5 and 45. most of your return eq's will be 0, 2, or 4's depending on the distance to the next amp
Compared to your forward high and low freq's ( 55 to 860? ) which attenuate very differently.
You will use your return pads and eq's to give you flat and consistent levels at the next and each gain station thus achieving unity gain.
