I dont want to sound mean or anything, but one of the reasons you are told about the shop rules before you start the project is so that you or company can make the neccessary arrangements. As much as I hate to say this, maybe you should not have been there. Maybe your company should have sent someone else,who could do the job with in the rules or maybe given you more help. They should have done what it takes to get the job done with in the rules in which were agreed to.
I said before, its a shame that rules like this are needed, but the fact is they are needed. Maybe not JUST for this occasion, but also for others times that this occasions falls under. Just so you know, shop management could have saw this same infractions and taken action also, not just the steward.
The guy was just doing what he was supposed to do.
