Re: Overtime pay on piece work

it's not that i can't figure time and a half, it's that when the plant manager and a couple of system techs mentioned coming to work for them, i asked what they pay and the general price range for someone doing installs is $9-11 there. i keep hearing people talking about a union, but that's just not going to happen... especially in TX where i'm at. secondly even if a union did manage to get off the ground your math presumes that pay would nearly triple somehow.....jimmy hoffa still hasn't been found and neither would the guy that managed to crush enough balls to triple the pay. i'm just being practical when i say that the prices won't change by modifying the way in which they are paid.

as for the complaints about increasingly more complicated eq, it's not going to get any better with everyone wanting the next big thing in every room of their house, the flip side of that may wind up being that if technology advances faster than the number of guys that can make it work, their will probably be more value in the guys that can learn it....but i doubt that will last long either.

just my opinion
