In December I started a project that had a 30-day-out pay deal. Knowing what I know about this business I had the guy sign a paper stating the terms of our agreement including the fact that I was to receive a $500.00 a week advance to be taken out of that weeks invoice with the balance owed 30 days from invoice. When 30 days rolled around with no check I voiced my concern but was assured everything was ok and since I have known the guy for a few years and he's known for honesty I continued to work. The fact that I was working 45 miles from home helped. Well now its been well over 60 days and Ive been promised that I will be payed in full on Feb. 27. By the way I did walk off the job Feb. 3. My question is what type of recourse do I have in the event that I don't get payed? Is the signed paper and copy of weekly's enough and who do I take them to for help? This all happened and is still happening in Illinois. Thanks in advance for any info\help.
