I am basing the cable vs sat HD quality on what I have seen offered down here in the Fl Panhandle. Cox, Mediacom, and Brighthouse is all that's down here. I am not sure of what the cable specs are other than poor! HSI is good, but video is substandard.
I contract for a big electronics chain and the customers I install mostly have spent from 5-10 thousand and I hate to see my work and their equipment being stiffened by a overly compressed HD signal. Since I primarily install DirecTV, I know what HDnet and HDdiscovery can look like. On DTV it is crystal clear and flawless, on cable it is distorted and glitchy (too much compression). Also you have these nice condo's that have been rebuilt after every hurricane except for the old RG-59 cable split behind every jack.
