Re: Why do you need to have a late (new) work truc

First, it's got to do with professionalism. *YOU* should want to look presentable and professional, not tying a ladder to the top of your '86 Chevy Caprice (I've seen it done before).

Here's a scenario:
You work for a general contractor and you have to take bids for roofers for this new subdivision you are building. 10 different roofers come up to you wanting to bid on the contract. Would you be more inclined to hire the roofer who has his act together, looks professional, sounds like he knows what he's talking about, and dresses professionally? Or would you be more inclined to give the contract to the guy who rolls up in his '78 station wagon with all his supplies in the back? My guess is you would probably go for the guy who looks more professional - because 9 times out of 10 - he is. I know there's always that 1 exception, but you have to look, act and present yourself as professional - no matter what you do.

And the part you said about not being in this field long - so what? You chose to come work in this field - no one asked you to be here. Say for instance you ran an ambulance company. Would you be transporting patients in your car that you threw a light bar on? No. You wouldn't. That's just one of hundreds of examples I could list.

The thing that drives me nuts is when I see some new cable guy rolling down the street in his mini-van that still has the baby seat in back. Talk about un-professional.

Just my 2c.

It was then that Caroline remembered her kitchen back in Montana, with a stove that she might or might not have turned off, and so with a heavy sigh, she put down the penguin.
