I am looking at a vw rabbit truck. I have seen new looking ones for around $7000. This is with a new engine, transmission, interior, white paint and they get 40 mpg+.
I will put back $500-$1000 per year for repairs, but it will be paid for and very effiecient.
It may not pass the new truck requirement, but if the company inspects it they will find a truck in new condition and that should be good enough.
