Guys, now I offer neither a pro union nor a non union opinion on this subject. I can tell you the following though, I have been listening to the "Union now" talk as long as I have been hanging dishes(10 yrs), I can honestly say it will probably never happen. The HSPs will continue to cycle through the lousy techs they get (apologies to all the truly good HSP techs out there), they will continue to put out an inferior product to the masses and the customer will continue to suffer. I fix an average of 4 installs a week that the HSP blundered or said no LOS. I believe that until Direct and Dish go back to a quality versus quantity installation system, it will never change. Now as far as the wages are concerned, if they wont pay, go elsewhere, they will either get the message or close their doors, there is nothing like walking into the office with 90 installs scheduled and only 4 installers for the day.
