The tv in question is a Sony 60" model KDS-R60XBR1. The specs say it has 1920 x 1080 resolution. It makes sense that the unit flashes the error while it adjusts its output, but the message is misleading and troubling for the customer.
I primarily install Directv and I have notice a flicker when changing from a standard channel to a HD channel, but I have never seen an error message like the cable box does.
As far as connecting a RF cable to the cable box to the tv, this would eliminate the error message for sure. Oh, and it would also eliminate the HD content, which is the purpose the customer spent so much $$$$ in the first place.
