A couple of years ago my brother came up with a plan that would discourage illegal border crossings one plat of land at a time. I kinda dig it. Whatchu tink?
Purchase land right on the river. Clear cut everything off the land, post small lighted signs every 25' (in spanish) "You are entering private property and will be shot on site. Set up watch towers and rent them out to crazy people who own guns and don't mind sniping off human beings. I bet there are plenty of "Anti-Illegal Crossing" groups out there to man a lot of towers.
Barb-wire the expanse of your river-land.... flatten out the land and groom it smooth. Towers with search lights. Warning signs telling them to go back or die. Like I said..... I kinda like the idea. Now if we can only purchase all the river land from San Diego CA to the Gulf of Mexico.
