I have been installing DTV for the past 2 years. I recently applied for a preventive maintenence job at one of the big cable co's. Since I have years of experience in splicing, sweeping and troubleshotting outages, I was made a pretty good offer I thought. $18.00 an hour. I won't have to drive my personal vehicle all over 3 counties,(53,000 miles on a truck I have only made 20 payments on) I will get paid overtime when I go over 40 hours(which I'm sure will be every week) and I will have great benefits. I wasn't going to leave DTV for just any ole job. It was going to have to be one that I could get in and stay in for many years. I think I finally got it. I did ok in DTV for the last 2 years but the timing and the job I was offered were too good to pass in my opinion. DTV has been good to me but it's time to move on. Good luck to those that stay with DTV. A person CAN make a good living at it if they get in the right situation but I think those situations are few and far between.
