I assume you got your information from some union book on the pay scale of Pay phone repairers and Construction employee's. I have no idea what the repairman makes nor would I compare the work they do to anything because it is not my field.
As far as the experience and knowledge that comes from installing sat. instead of comparing it to Cable, Phone or Power. Try leaning toward low voltage wiring or maybe home, industrial, or commercial electrical wiring possibly cable or phone INSTALLS maybe even home theater.
Yes they have some experience and it is of value.
