I don't know about the rest of you techs, but I for one have been considering a career move from DirecTV. For one, it seems like all the retailers are getting out or using HSP's. And now we have the DirecTV stuper dish coming in and there has been no mention of a pay increase to tackle this monster. Third, DirecTV's new equipment (R15 H20) seems inferior to the days of Sony, Hughes, etc...
I am now weighing my options and the most reasonable transition would be Dishnetwork. I have a opportunity at a local RSP (Sat Unlimited), but I have heard rumors of some stupid policies like you have to buy your drop materials from them at an inflated price. I also have an opportunity doing residential installs for the local cable company. They pay 30 for the first to connections on new customers and 60 for HSI, telephone, and video.
Any helpful feedback will be appreciated. One thing for sure though, it is time for this dawg to get away from the big DirecTV.
Time to get out of DirecTV
