(1) There may not be enough info in the response. Here is a response I got, "I have 13 years experience. Give me the company name and let's get started."
(2) No contact info left. When you reply to an ad you should leave as much info about yourself/company as possible including a email address.
(3) If your cabl username is something like "digital porno star," don't expect a response.
(4) Sometimes small companies get contracts with promises of heavy workloads. So, the small company places an ad here on the bar. If the work comes in then it can get passed on the the sub, if not, you know all to well.
My response is:
I'm sure you and others get many responses with a lack of info in them, but 95% of the help wanted adds have a very BIG lack of info in them!
When an add respondent replies by email, you automatically have a return email address. I have left by email almost a short novel and also one line descriptions TRYING to see what would work and get a response, with the same holding true for voice mail (almost no one answers their phones). Either way, it doesn't seem to matter.
My cabl user name is my name, although I see that is very rare here.
If a company wants to fish for names or just collect names for possible future use, or the work is tentative, they should plainly STATE THAT in the add.
Please, this is not an attack on you, but just a response to this very frustrating situation of responding to adds and having maybe a 10% return response rate. My point being that I don't seem to fall into the categories that you indicate wouldn't merit a response and I still don't get responses. This can be a very frustrating waste of time.
By the way, in response to others who imply that only drunks and junkies respond to adds, personally, I don't use drugs and can prove it if need be, rarely drink, get along well with customers, look clean cut, use a white cargo van, have necessary tools, about 20 years experience in cable and sat., computer networks, phones, with management exp. and more, I have evolved with the technology, and can do any type of special project with no supervision. Or, for that matter could run your nationwide company in a competent and profitable manor. I just want the ability to be able to make $1500 or more a week (I prefer $2000+) so I can live like a normal person. Of course some of the information in this paragraph I never put in a response to an add.
That's my thoughts.
