My brother-in-law finally got the Plasma HD TV he's been drooling for this past Christmas. He called Comcast to order a HD converter and was advised that they had no HD converters and had no idea when they would become available. He contacted the Magnavox web site and found plenty of HD converters for sale @ $300+. Is Comcast feuding with Magnavox? Can he order a HD converter from Magnavox, install it himself and expect it to work? Or is there a system-specific card or other control device that needs to be authorized by the system. Been out of the install end of the business for quite a while now and I really don't know. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
