It sounds like you have everything you need to succeed as far as knowledge and certifications. I have BICSI certifications myself, and when I joined, I was not familiar with your side, I was in cable and trying to learn more about Voice and DATA systems as we matured as a multiple service provider. SCTE is our industries form of BICSI. Go to SCTE.org to find your local chapter, and start attending meetings to learn about the latest technologies in our field. Since you are one to quote NEC Codes, I think you will be alright. Look in the book for the Journeyman's test, and you will see that our section is dwarfed in comparison to the Electrical sections. I would fight for your work experience records as hard as you can, I think that it is illegal for the Union to withhold that information. I am sure it is a tactic to keep ex-members from succeeding on their own, Good Luck, and Welcome!
