Re: DTV/HDTV 8VSB over cable

Sounds like something is happening to the ATSC pilot or other synchronizing pulses in the conversion. The ATSC pilot is like the "sync" in an analog signal. The television receiver uses these signals, pilot, segment and field syncs to lock on to the incoming signal. I would contact the vendor of the equipment to see if there are any adjustments that could be made.
