DVR overheating and damaging carpet

I received a customer complaint, that his DVR , a Motorola Model DCT 6412 burned his carpet. I haven't been out to the job yet, but he says that the DVR overheated and burned his carpet. I've done a little research around the net and found some complaints in this regard. I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience or heard of this. (flame)
