4 months ago, the owner of the company I work for told me that if I would come to work for him I would only have to work 5 days a week. It was the only reason I went back into cable. the owners have now went back to where ever it is they came from and have hired a plant manager to run things. Well now he is telling me that it is not fair to all the other installers that are working 6 or 7 days a week and that I need to also or go find another job. Is there some kind of law that says I have to work 6 or 7 days a week and what happened to the gentleman agreement that I was hired on with? Should I call up the owners and talk to them and have them give the plant manager a call or would that put a nail in my coffin.I will never get rich installing cable and all I want to do is pay some bills and enjoy life. I pass all QC's and do good work and have been in the cable industry for 15 years and it seams to me that all the prime contractors treat the installers like crap. The crew I',m working with gets threatened to get fired at every single meeting we have. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
