Re: Union Bad. License Good.

It is now the law in California that all persons working with Electrical wiring and components of any kind, with the exception of low voltage wiring, must be a certified, card carrying Journeyman Electrician by January 1st 2006. The low voltage guys are also going to be SOL come 2006, because most companies are going to replace them with Journeyman Electricians, or they will take a cut in pay with a cap of about 15.00 an hour, or, they will be demoted. I know this because my Husband is a Journeyman Electrician and has witnessed what happens to those who aren't first hand. And don't even think about trying to get in to take the test now, there are no more available test dates to those who do not have an appointment, plus you have to have paid the test fee prior to July, 2005. Its going to be quite an eye opener to some Lineman in California, they wont even be allowed to call themselves a Lineman anymore, nor will they be able to do a Lineman's work. They will be low voltage Apprentice"s and will not hold much value in the workforce because they will be limited on what kind of work they are legally allowed to perform.
