Wow, my mind is reeling...
I just read an ad under "install jobs" looking for techs to work S. Fla. storm damage. The line that got me was "average tech can do 30 to 40 quality drops a day" (not verbatim)...
Just for grins I did some math. If a man was working a 12 hour day and completing 30 drops he would average 24 minutes per drop, 40 drops would be 18 minutes per... Now, this does not include drive time or setup time just pure and simple hangin aerials.....and mind you, doing "quality" work. I imagine this means routing drops to follow power ensuring that they are grounded properly with required weather proofing etc..
Maybe it's just cause I'm an old fart, 47, that I can't fathom this being done but even on my best day when I was full of piss and vinegar I think the best I could do would maybe, MAYBE be 25 considering the real world... not all drops will be roadside and there will be debris and obstacles.... I did work after Charlie in Central Fla... was no walk in the park...my best day was 13.
But then again I was only a year younger...
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Super Installers!!
