Treat all locations as if they could receive interference! Do the job right and avoid these problems.
As you stated rf will take the path of least resistance. So never allow the braid to touch the center conductor. Makes for a very bad pic if any.
If I had to say do it right the first time this many times to one of my guys he would have received an application for employment at Burger King.
