Re: Digital modulators

Hi Emerger,
I'm not sure what equiptment we will be useing yet. I'm just trying to get an idea of what's involved so I can do some head end planning.

You said that each of the 8 inputs on the Motorola can carry multiple channels (up to ten). Does this mean you could use one reciver for multiple channels? For instance both the Scripps networks we carry (food and HGTV) are currently on seperate recievers but both are on the same sat / transponder / VCT.
Could they be consolidated to one reciever, say a DSR4400 or newer 4410?

Then if that's the case that one reciever is handeling 5 channels but we only carry 2 of them. Does the other 3 channels data stream come out of the mod too (wasteing bandwidth) or does the mod select just the data from the 2 channels we carry and mix in additional channels that we carry to fill our digital channel to capacity (the other channels having there own reciever(s))?

Are the motorola mods 3Mhz wide?

How many channels do you run per modulator?

How much rack space does the motorola use?

Thanks for the help,
Chad
