Check with the MSO. Some offer commission structures to the in-house techs for sales/up-sales/customer saves. Also some offer bounties on recovered equipment. Some areas that can be used to offset the income difference. Also look at the hours you are putting in. Overtime for in-house tech, still same piece rate as sub.

I was a contractor for years, and finally went in-house. Both have their benefits. But with piece prices continuing to drop, expenses continuing to raise, something has to change.(cussing) If not the industry, then maybe the side of the fence that you are working for.
