The only thing I can see them having with (and this is dependant on which cable company it is and where you are working), is drop replacement. If you go to a house and rewire outlets and change fittings or splitters thats fine because whats in the customers house is theirs...not anyone elses.

Not to mention the first time something goes wrong and the customer calls up the cable company and says, "So and so was doing side work for me....", you're likely getting canned if you work for a prime or a sub.

This is just my 2c from things that I've seen happen to other people.
