RF2Lite2RF is right about the four horsemand being shortwave broadcast. They are easy to track down but hard to eliminate because they get in the plant from so many different places, the vast majority are in the drop plant. Tune your meter to the frequency and use the modulation option switching between AN and FM to listen to the broadcast.

The broken isolaters are also easy to track down but the power company will have to meet you in the field to fix them. Use your sniffer or AM radio to isolate which transformer they are coming from. A power buzz will kill your radio signal and peg your sniffer. You can't kill a power buzz, you can pull pads and diplexers and it will still be there. You can pull the amp plug into any of the ports on the housing and it will still fill the screen on your spectrum usually all the way from 5-40 mhz. You can also touch your probe to the vertical gound on the pole and see it on your spectrum.
