Can you say "do you want fries with your order?"
Seriously, I understand your point of view. However I could not reconcile the paradigm shift the broadband providers undertook in the early millenium. After 24 years & 9 months I bailed.
Back in the day, we all made fun of TCI {even the TCI employees in Hartford & on Cape Cod}, calling it Trash Cable Incorporated, because John Malone ran the company so tightfisted that I once helped a buddy {who was TCI tech supv} scrape & paint a TVRO because his GM could not get the budget approved to replace a dish that was 20 years old.
In most MSO's today, the beancounters & HR people are totally in charge. Performance matrices rule 97% of decision making process. I left the MSO back in 2000 & went back to contracting. After 3+ years in broadband contracting I took went into the commercial construction business. I have found just as many shady characters {both labor & management} as in broadband, but the work is steady & I am gaining valuble experience.
Of course you realize the fact that I am posting on the CABL website means I must miss the cable bidness & I admit there's a fondness for the industry I grew up in. But like the great man said, "you can never go back".
