MSO's are getting tighter on requirements due to more competition. More qualified applicants to choose from along with promoting within which only recently makes sense thanks to inhouse training and mandatory SCTV involvement.
With your experience take a step backwards into contracting.
Contractors have a much higher churn rate on employees and too often can't afford the time to train properly.
Forget MSO's... take a shot at contracting. Less structure and more money.
I've gone back and forth over that short fence for 35 years.
