Gas Prices are no different then any other product, Supply and demand, simple laws of economics are at play.
The demand from all the growth in third world countries coupled with the increase in demand Here in the US hampered by the fact that there are over 11 different regional formulation mandated by the EPA causing refineries to produce 33 different types of gas for different EPA regions. further hampered by the Lack of refinery facilities due to Environmental nonsense and people with the Nimby syndrome (Not In My Back Yard)
And yes you are correct the Government Taxes
Theses are the real reasons the price is to high period except for various times Speculations in the oil futures market due to War and rumor of war.
There are more then Transportation cost to factor in, Production- Manufacturing – Planting tilling harvesting and on and On.
Your attitude that we are getting screwed by the Big oil and Big Businesses, May or may not be true they can only get away with what the Government allows them to.
