Re: Fish tapes

I own two fish tapes and have only used one once. The chain and glow rods work best. When I shoot a finished basement ceiling from an unfinished part between the floor joists for ceiling mounted surround sound speakers I attach a small chain (1’) to the end of the glow rod. This lets me pull the chain through a 3/8 inch hole with the magnet and also gives me a stiffer rod (hehe) to work around the obstacles. I did a lateral fish this way today with a flex bit through four studs to a wall mounted speaker. My assistant just swore I couldn’t get a wire there!
