No matter what you do the pirates will find a way around it.
Decrease the # of ports and they'll start hiding splitters down the line.
I've seen jerky boys drill a hole into the main line from behind the wall and shove a stinger into the opening. Locks only keep honest people honest, and if you make it harder for the miscreants to steal it they'll cause some real damage trying to get it for free.
