Acetone is the last thing you should use to clean fibers.
Never should it be used in a confined space (Vapors).
MSDS lists it as a 2 for health.(Severe!!)
It should never come in contact with your skin.
Exposure to acetone may enhance the liver toxicity of chlorinated solvents. Acute: Causes severe eye irritation. Causes irritation to skin, mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Chronic: Dermatitis, eye damage. Target organs: Liver, kidneys.
I have been fiber splicing for 15years just about everyday.

In the old days they gave us Methylene Chloride,
That stuff is the best for cleaning fibers!! after about 96F
your fingers turned white and about the third day they split open.
Don't compromise your health for a splicepoint....
