My understanding of the ground issue was , at least for sat installs, dealing with static build up on the dish (low possibility) and shorts in appliances like the ird (sat receiver to the cable gents).
The other part of my understanding is that lightning will blow the ass of the building. The cx should push 911 and their insurance guy.
I was told of a lightning issue where several DTV installs were damaged by a nearby lightning strike. All were blown out by power traveling up through the ground rod to the house. Nearby DTV rigs that were NOT grounded suffered nothing.
Go figure?
