I had been contracting for Time Warner in Kansas City MO and had been making what I felt was "Good Money". The whole deal was starting to dry up and I decided to come back home to Oklahoma and just install somewhere here. I call a place here and setup an interview etc. They call me back tell me my background check is clean and to come in and talk to them. I go in talk to them and everything seems well untill I look at these guys pay structure. Now I figured I would make less in Oklahoma than I did in MO but was really surprised to see that instead of 13.00 for an unwired outlet I would be payed 6.00 here or instead of 15.00 for a new drop it would be 8.75.
I guess I'll hit the road again but it seems odd that a man has to go out of state to make a living. I honestly don't see how a tech could afford to roll his own vehicle etc. for those rates. It honestly felt like they were kicking me in the nuts and calling my mom names when I looked at that sheet. The weird thing is I did a drop replacement project for the same company a month or 2 back and it payed 20 per drop.
huge rate differences state to state
