I have to disagree with you on the similarity of profile and core alignment machines. Although core alignment is not perfect, it's 100 times better than a fixed V groove alignment process where the core isn't even remotely looked at or aligned prior to fusion. Anyone using a profile machine where a core alignment is needed for spec, will be wasting a large portion of profit returning, setting up, and resplicing to meet spec. In our company we come in, do it one time, test, and leave. If a company can afford, with todays prices, to pay twice for one product, go for it. But if you can't afford it, and it needs to be done right without if's or but's, call me.
