This is the age-old discussion of quality vs. quantity, with a smattering of tough competition. The customer is the one who manages cost/quality. If the customer is willing to accept shoddy work for a lower cost, that's their decision to make. Sometimes it makes sense. When an MSO has a backlog of installs, quantity is all that matters, even if it means service calls later to clean up the mess. Plant constrcution is no different. If a project is overdue, quantity, at the time, is more important.

I admire anyone that takes pride in their work, but look around. It is the customer setting the agenda. If you're losing business to a competitor because the customer is willing to sacrifice quality for quantity, adjust accordingly. Even if it injures your pride. All things being equal, who's to say that your shoddy work isn't still better than your competitor's shoddy work. It's a sliding scale.(beerchug)
