Did you read all of my post or skim through it?
I do NOT think our skills are easy to master. They are easy to DO, it takes a LOT to know how to do it RIGHT. Here in lies the problem, doing it right is not always cheap, hence the abundance of hacks.
I did not mean testing as in drug testing, I meant testing like exam testing.... my bad for throwing in the part about that lineman and directing you that way
I agree it should flounder, but it will never happen. Someone out there will always do it just a little bit cheaper, cut a little more corners, and provide a ****ier product for a cheaper price. They will always find work somewhere, because at the immediate end of the job, the manager can say they provided a product for a cheaper price and they were able to save money. They will not be held responsible for the long term affects of shoddy workmanship and most do not care, as long as they are not blamed for it and they can say "well it was all QA'd how was I supposed to know?". As long as their a$$ is covered, most could care less.
The allmighty dollar rules this industry, nearly gone are the people with pride in what they do.
The fact that you care, means you are one of the few. I commend you and all the guys (and the few gals - hey Kim -) out there that take the extra time and do it right because you want to provide a better product.
