While I agree the alcohol will remove the d-gel, it is unnecessary and poses a problem. It is minor and mostly irritating but worth mentioning. The alcohol, combined with the wiping process will allow the fibers to get a static charge. This means that one fiber will repel the next. This sucks when you have several fibers spliced or an unbroken ringcut to tray up. Ironically, this can be overcome by applying more alcohol and traying the fibers up before they dry. I have also heard from a cable rep that alcohol actually "eats away" the colored coating on the fiber. Although I have seen evidence of this I am unsure if it was the alcohol itself that caused it or other environmental factors. Has anyone else heard of or experienced this? In any event, using alcohol or not, the article never mentioned using d-gel, and that is what I found wrong with the info
