Re: new pay rates

Re: new pay rates a.k.a. "taking the good with the bad"

Hey ya gotta love it.
Local # portability for land lines starts here on march 5th, so the 1st thing the prime does is cut the pay on modems by 70%.

Let's see..... the system has to switch all the subs to digital so the prime now pays a little less on a box swap, but you must do up to 3 for the same price, of course all the old boxes are sitting on RG59 so not only are you swapping boxes but also running new outlets for all, and then you must auto-provision each box you swap or it's a $50 charge back from the MSO.
Imagine running 3 outlets and swapping and provisioning 3 boxes for a little less than $18.

So what this really lends towards is having disgruntled techs being forced to do sub-standard work just to eek out a living, resulting in tbl calls that get charged back to the prime, which in turn get taken out of the techs now lower check, which in turn forces the tech to say "screw this" and walk away and then the prime can fine the tech under contract for walking away from the "contract" and hell what does the contract really give you ? nothing. The contract doesn't promise you a set price for a set time, rather it states that as the MSO's and primes prices change so can the overall contract with the tech change.

Unfortunately, in-house is looking better and better everyday.
